IMPORTANT. Due to closed Novotroitske checkpoint some problems with delivery of humanitarian aid to Donetsk may occur

06.05.2016

We inform you that due to closed Novotroitske checkpoint and difficulties with crossing the contact line there may be some problems with delivery of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center's aid to Donetsk.

Currently the Humanitarian Center's fixed issuing points continue operating in non-government-controlled areas in the ordinary course. But if the issue with humanitarian aid delivery is not resolved soon, the logistic warehouse at Donbas Arena will be run out of food packages. On May 12 the Center will be forced to stop the operation of its issuing points until the resumption of supplies.

Novotroitske checkpoint is closed from April 27, and the traffic at other checkpoints towards Donetsk is very heavy. At the same time, movement of humanitarian aid through other checkpoints will block the traffic there for at least four hours.

In view of the situation the Humanitarian Center sent official letters to the State Security Service, ATO Staff, General Staff, State Security Service in Donetsk region, State Fiscal Service and State Border Service with a request to provide information about the planned date of Novotroitske checkpoint reopening or designate another checkpoint that can accept twenty-ton vehicles.

As a reminder, according to the UN statistics, two years of conflict in eastern Ukraine led to the fact that 1.5 million of Ukrainians faced the threat of hunger. According to expert estimates, about 300,000 of them need urgent assistance.
