Occluders for the little hearts. How to get help?

19.09.2017

The Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Centre continues to help children suffering from serious heart diseases. Within the framework of the "Healthy Heart" project, 21 children received assistance for surgeries and rehabilitation.

Every operation is performed with an endoscopic endovascular method that allows the patient to forget the terrible diagnosis forever and recover quickly after surgery. Such operations in Ukraine are extremely rare.

One of the happy patients was a three-year-old Myroslava Belykh from Mariupol. The girl’s interatrial duct did not close after birth. The heart defect later threatened the baby with a disability, so she needed an urgent occluder implantation. However, the girl’s parents did not have money for an expensive implant. The Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Centre responded to a request for assistance and ensured the heart operation on the child. The operation at the Kyiv Heart Institute was successful, the doctors returned the girl to a healthy life.

"Many thanks to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for providing assistance and not leaving us in trouble. Our girl can even go in for sports and practise dancing now. She has no more restrictions and we can live a full life!"- Olena Belykh, Myroslava's mother, happily noted.

Children under the age of 18 living in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions can count on the Humanitarian Centre for help under the "Healthy Heart" project. The project provides assistance for heart surgery for children diagnosed with an open arterial duct and a secondary defect of the interatrial septum.

More information about the project can be found on the official website of the Humanitarian Centre. To leave an application, you need to contact the hotline 0-800-509-001.
