Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center helps with heart disease drugs – 1250 were provided with assistance

04.03.2015

The non-government controlled area of Donbas observes a critical situation in healthcare: supplies of medications to pharmacies and medical institutions have reduced, there are no state supplies of equipment and consumables to the hospitals. In some towns medical institutions and pharmacies have only a limited range of medications. At the same time, not everyone can afford these medications because there are no social payments and salaries.

Due to the critical situation Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center took over the costs for providing insulin and heart disease drugs for residents of Donetsk and Makiivka, who require these medications. Today it was mentioned by Rimma Fil during media briefing at Ukrainian News information agency.

"A lot of people call our Humanitarian Center's hotline, most of them are elderly people, who ask to help them with heart disease drugs. As of today, 2228 people asked for help, the assistance was provided to 1250. The Humanitarian Center provides heart disease drugs for 50% of applicants – these are the people, who fall under the Center's categories and who can provide medical certificates. Pensioners ask medications to treat cardiovascular diseases and blood pressure normalization: cardiomagnyl, actovegin, aspirin cardio, lisinopril, preductal. These are the most basic medications for blood pressure and relief of cardiac pain. Of course, it is difficult for people who suffer cardiac diseases to survive in areas of military actions. Every month the Humanitarian Center provides heart disease drugs to 200-230 retired people of 60 and older, residing in Donetsk and Makiivka", - Rimma Fil said.
