"Now my son will be able to adapt to society" Sasha, a 7-year-old from Zaporizhzhya, received modern hearing aids from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

25.07.2024

Sasha's parents had noticed that he was hard of hearing a long time ago, but thought it was just the way things were supposed to be: the child has an autism spectrum disorder. It was only at the beginning of this year that it became clear that their son would need hearing aids. Currently, as part of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's project Rinat Akhmetov to Children. I Can Hear Now, a 7-year-old Oleksandr from Zaporizhzhia has received hearing aids and will be able to go to school thanks to them.

"We are very grateful to Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

If it wasn't for your help, and so promptly, we wouldn't have made it to the start of school. Now Sasha will be able to study. He reads, writes and is a bright boy in general, but it is very important that he adapts to society, goes to classes, connects online, communicates with children and adults," says Yuliia, Sasha's mother.

She adds that the family's goal at the moment is to teach their son to be independent.

Sasha has sensorineural bilateral moderate-severe hearing loss. This means that he has difficulty understanding speech, hears poorly and has speech impairments.

"We have been cooperating with  Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for many years and are very grateful for giving children the opportunity to live, hear and be in society. This is a very important cause - not all families have the opportunity to purchase such devices.Sasha is going to the first grade, and the hearing aids will help him hear his teachers, understand speech and study," comments Anna Yanichkina, audiologist and hearing aid specialist at the Hearing Centre.

Hearing assistance under Rinat Akhmetov to Children. Now I Can Hear project can be provided to children with hearing impairments under the age of 7 who live or have lived in territorial communities in the areas of hostilities, occupation or encirclement.
