The project Ask the Doctor of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation continues a series of its live broadcasts with key healthcare experts of the country on the topic of COVID-19. This time the guest of the broadcast was Yuriy Pedachenko, a Doctor of Medical Sciences, a professor, a neurosurgeon of Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute, and a professor of Neurosurgery Department of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine.

According to him, headache can be one of the non-typical symptoms in patients after stroke and with the coronavirus.

‘It can also occur in case of thousands of other various diseases. However, headache is not exactly the symptom that indicates a disturbance of cerebral blood circulation. This can be intoxication from the coronavirus infection, and from decreased blood saturation, that is a chronic cerebral ischemia,’ said Yuriy Pedachenko.

He also added that such patients need to take blood thinners to reduce the risk of serious complications. For example, Cardiomagnyl.

‘In principle, blood thinners are recommended to all people over 50. It is also necessary to monitor blood saturation – its oxygen level,’ the expert explained.
Yuriy Pedachenko stressed that careful attention to your health will help reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases in case of the coronavirus.

‘You should give up bad habits, should pay attention to your diet and body weight. Essentially, this helps to reduce the risk of the disease many-fold,’ said the doctor.

He noted that the project Ask the Doctor is especially important today.

‘I want to thank you for the project because really, from my point of view, it has great social value,’ said Yuriy Pedachenko.
