Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center provides food and medications to the victims of explosion in Ukrainsk
Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center delivered food packages to 18 families in Ukrainsk, who became homeless due to gas explosion in their apartment building. More than 50 packages were provided to the residents of destroyed sections of the building and two adjacent ones. Also, the packages for nursing mothers were issued to families with children under 35 months old.
Ten more food packages were provided by the Humanitarian Center's volunteers to arrange hot meals at the heating point of Emergencies Ministry organized and located in the yard of the house.
"People actually remained on the street. Somebody slept in their cars, others stayed in a tent. People are not going far away from their house. As long as there is an organized outdoor kitchen here, these kits will come in handy", ‒ Yulia Malakhova, Coordinator of mobile volunteer teams at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shared.
As a reminder, the explosion of gas in multi-story apartment building took place on January 15 in the town of Ukrainsk, Donetsk region. The explosion took away the lives of two children; three people got severe injuries and burns. 18 families are left without homes. 5 apartments are completely destroyed, 13 are severely damaged.
Three victims, two women and an 8-year-old girl, were taken from the local hospital to Kramatorsk burn centre by sanitary aviation. Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is providing them with first aid in treatment. Today the batch of required medications will be delivered to Kramatorsk.
