More than 100,000 survival kits are issued by mobile volunteer teams in Donbas villages

24.02.2016

As of today, February 24, the mobile teams of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center have issued 101,107 food packages in remote villages of Donetsk region. The volunteers visited 344 settlements.

"Over 9 months of mobile teams' operation they visited 340 villages and settlements in the "grey zone" and remote settlements of Donetsk region. During all this time our volunteers often risk their lives while going through long inspections at the checkpoints and getting to the hottest spots on the contact line. They visited Pisky, Sartana, Talakivka, Opytne and Hranitne. People who live there cook their meals on the open fire, do not have the most essential products, they are isolated from the outside world and exhausted by shelling.  The aid provided by Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is much demanded there, it helps them to survive", ‒ Rimma Fil, the Humanitarian Center's Coordinator, shares.

The volunteers take from two to four trips a week to deliver humanitarian aid to people. During one trip they manage to issue survival kits to residents of several neighbouring villages. Most of the food aid recipients are retired and disabled people, families with many children and single parents.

The aid is delivered and issued in nine raions of Donetsk region on both sides of the contact line. These are Yasynuvata, Volnovakha, Artemivsk, Marinka, Amvrosiivka, Shakhtarsk, Telmanove, Novoazovsk and Volodarske raions, the town of Dzerzhynsk and its satellite settlements.

The mobile team project of the Humanitarian Center was launched in May 2015. Mobile food delivery allows helping people in "grey zone" and remote villages in non-government-controlled areas, where there is no possibility to open a fixed issuing point.
