Home delivery of survival kits: over 11,000 residents of Donetsk region were provided with humanitarian aid from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center.

In April 1,109 retired and disabled people in Donetsk and the neighbouring towns were provided with targeted assistance – food packages from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center. Over 7 months of work the Humanitarian Center's mobile groups of volunteers delivered 11,014 survival kits to the homes of retired and disabled people. These are the most vulnerable categories of civilians, who are left without social payments, support of relatives, and they can't leave their homes and get to the issuing points in their towns due to health reasons.

"This month food products were delivered to Donetsk, Snizhne, Shakhtarsk, Torez, Makiivka and Khanzhonkove. Most of recipients are elderly people. Not many of them can actually take care of themselves. The messages on Humanitarian Center's hotline were sent by their relatives, who live in other cities, or social services' employees, who helped these people earlier and now concerned about their well-being, and ask for humanitarian aid delivery. Our volunteers noted a very difficult humanitarian situation in these towns. Lonely retired and disabled people were on the verge of starvation, and our food packages literally saved their lives. Also during the whole April the volunteers from mobile groups were collecting information on Donetsk veterans of the Great Patriotic War to provide them with Victory Day gifts from Rinat Akhmetov", – Anzhela Sumrava, Coordinator for mobile volunteer groups at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shares.

For many people, who call the Humanitarian Center's hotline and ask for targeted delivery, these products are the only source of subsistence due to non-paid social benefits and pensions for over 6 months. The story of each of such families is individual and complicated. For many retired people volunteers are saviours and listeners both.

"We would like to express our gratitude and respect to Rinat Akhmetov. We survive only thanks to him. My husband and I are over 80 years old. Nobody else is helping us. For several years we are bringing up our grandson, who is 14 now. His father died, and his mother left him when he was 6 days old. Our grandson plays accordion, he's a laureate of international and national competitions and has more than 30 diplomas of various competitions. Despite his young age and music school education, he is playing at the level of conservatory. But recently his accordion got broken. This is a trouble for us, we cannot help our grandson. Although, we certainly realize how much help is provided so that people just survive", – Nina Vasylivna from Donetsk shared her story.

Every day mobile groups of volunteers visit dozens of addresses, they go even to the most distant districts of Donetsk and its neighbouring towns to deliver survival kits to the most vulnerable categories of population.
