Kharkiv received four more modern lung ventilator made in France from Rinat Akhatova and FC "Shakhtar”

10.09.2020

On September 10, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC “Shakhtar” handed over high-quality artificial lung ventilation devices to doctors in Kharkiv. Four lung ventilators were handed over in the city at once (city clinical hospitals No. 13 and No. 17 each received one device, and two more  were provided to the regional clinical infectious diseases hospital), which is especially important in connection with the current epidemiological situation. Medical staff also received medical clothing and gift sets.

- COVID-19 affected every region of Ukraine. Therefore, more than 200  lung ventilators purchased by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for public hospitals are being transferred to doctors in large cities and small towns. The Foundation works closely with regional state administrations and receives objective data on the availability of ventilators in hospitals. Everyone has the right to receive high-quality medical care, so the equipment is supplied and will be delivered to medical institutions that need it most urgently, -  Natalya Yemchenko, a member of the Supervisory Board of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation said.

According to Yuri Svyrydov, Director of strategy and communications at FC “Shakhtar”, today the fight against coronavirus infection requires joint efforts more than ever:

- Targeted assistance is not able to contain the spread of COVID-19. “Shakhtar” Football club has been playing its home matches in Kharkiv for three years. Therefore, it is especially important for us that together with Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, we can help the city in the fight against coronavirus. Devices of this high level are difficult to buy, as they are in demand in every country of the world due to the pandemic.

He added that Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC “Shakhtar” are also transferring three lung ventilators to two more hospitals in Kharkiv on this day.

The Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleksii Kucher thanked for the help, emphasizing its relevance.

– We now have about 20 people connected to lung ventilators in the regional hospital. Hospital No. 13 also helps patients with coronavirus, so thank you very much, - Oleksii Kucher said.

According to doctors, the received device was a real joy.

– Today we have  a very pleasant event for hospital No. 13. Our team has many years of experience in treating patients with lung diseases. And today, doctors are not left alone, having received a ventilator of such a high class, it is modern and technological. This is an opportunity to save even more lives. We are thankful to Rinat Akhmetov,  - the Head physician of the hospital Alla Bobeico said.

The intensive care unit's doctors also received special-order medical clothing from the Foundation.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, state hospitals in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Ternopil, Rivne, Zakarpattia and Kharkiv regions, as well as in Kyiv, have received modern lung  ventilators from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

"Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine" is a large-scale project of the Foundation designed to help the country save people's lives. It is implemented under the program of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation “Saving lives”. Earlier, by the personal decision of Rinat Akhmetov, the project "200 ambulances for Ukraine" was implemented under this program. Then, in a record-breaking six months, state medical institutions in all regions received 200 special vehicles with the most modern equipment that can overcome off-road conditions. Including 22 vehicles with artificial lung ventilation devices for newborns. This is the largest contribution of one philanthropist to the state medicine of Ukraine since the independence of our country. Today, many of these ambulances are involved in the fight against the epidemic in all areas.
