17.09.2015

Over the year of its operation Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center issued 4,500,485 adult survival kits to Donbas civilians on both sides of the contact line. The information on the places and procedure of humanitarian aid issuance was provided during the briefing at Ukrainsky Novyny information agency by Coordinator at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center Rimma Fil.

"As of today, September 17, 2015, the Humanitarian Center has issued 4.5 million food packages and 328,000 children packages for Donbas civilians on both sides of the contact line. This is a huge number, which stands for millions of saved lives. Millions of people, who wouldn't be able to survive without these food packages, the so-called survival kits, through the military actions and economic blockade. During this year we strictly observed all the principles of international missions. We equally appreciate and care about Donbas residents on both sides of the contact line. We help those who live in Donetsk, Mariupol, Sloviansk and everyone who moved away from the war to the more quiet towns", – Rimma Fil said.

To deliver these large volumes of humanitarian aid, the Humanitarian Center sent 99 truck convoys to Donbas. These are 3,067 heavy-duty trucks that delivered 61,340 tons of food to the Humanitarian Center's logistic warehouses in Donetsk and Mariupol to form survival kits for people.

Humanitarian aid from the Center was received in 221 settlements and 21 districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This is more than 100 fixed issuing points. Plus, 160 small settlements in 7 districts were visited by mobile teams of volunteers. These are Yasynuvatsky, Volnovakhsky, Artemivsky and Dzerzhynsky raions on the contact line and Amvrosiivsky, Telmanovsky and Shakhtarsky raions in non-government-controlled areas.

The demand for food aid from mobile teams remains very high on the contact line. That is why it was decided to increase the amount of issued packages up to 7,000 units in September.

In Snizhne, Donetsk region, located in non-government-controlled area, the mobile volunteers have been working as a fixed issuing point for the third week. They issued humanitarian aid to 3,228 local civilians there.

Over three months of mobile teams operation, they provided humanitarian aid to more than 35,000 people on both sides of the contact line.

"It is very important for Rinat Akhmetov to help everyone who needs it. And mobile volunteers really help us to reach every person. From month to month the Humanitarian Center provides help to 500,000 Donbas civilians of the most vulnerable categories: disabled and retired people, disabled children, families with many children, etc.

In September 2015, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center has already sent eight humanitarian convoys to Donbas with 2,000 tons of food products. They were used to form 260,000 survival kits for adults and children. And it is planned to deliver 170,000 more packages till the end of month.
