“Life Goes On”: Frontline Nikopol Residents Receive Aid from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

05.06.2025

Shelling in Nikopol is constant – people try not to go outside unnecessarily. Despite the high risks, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provided humanitarian aid to vulnerable local residents. The distributions are now complete.

“Trucks with food or medicine often don’t reach us – there were cases when a vehicle was hit. Prices are rising. So humanitarian aid is necessary here, just like in all border cities,” says Svitlana, a volunteer.

According to her, life in the city continues despite the tension and fear. For many, one emotional support has become the opportunity to help others.

“When there is a collection for our defenders, grandmothers run one after another. Some bring socks, others bring pies. They even complain if they didn’t make it in time and the volunteers left without their treats,” Svitlana shares about some features of life in a frontline city.

In total, the Foundation has provided nearly 13.5 million food packages to residents of Ukraine. Aid is provided as part of the “Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives” program.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, SCM businesses, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, and FC Shakhtar have allocated UAH 11.3 billion (USD 315 million) to assist the country, military, and civilians.
