28.09.2015

Water supply system remains a problem in Donbas. This is evidenced by the updated Humanitarian map of current situation and needs in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

17% of residents in the region complain about the quality of water. 81% are forced to make additional water purification, where: 63% boil water, 18% apply purchased filters and 11% settle water.

Water supply is not restored in more than 30% of towns. Such towns as Stakhanov in Luhansk region, Donetsk and Komsomolske in Donetsk region are mostly using bottled water. Delivered water from tanker trucks is mostly used in Alchevsk, Novotoshkivske and Pervomaisk in Luhansk region.

"The most difficult situation with the quality of water is observed in Stanytsia Luhanska, Svitlodarsk, Snizhne, Kirovske, Ilovaisk, Yenakiieve, Avdiivka and Alchevsk", – Daryna Pyrogova, research scientist at KIIS, specifies.
