Vladyslav Heraskevych presents “Helmet of Memory. The Story Continues” at the Museum of Civilian Voices founded by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

22.04.2026

On April 29, at the Museum of Civilian Voices founded by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych will personally open the exhibition “Helmet of Memory.  The Story Continues” - a symbol preserving the names of those whose lives were taken by russia’s war against Ukraine.

This symbol began its journey at the Olympic Games, when Vladyslav Heraskevych told the world about the tragedy in Ukraine and the athletes killed in the war, despite the risk of disqualification. Today, this story is gaining a continuation.

The new “Helmet of Memory.  The Story Continues” is dedicated to 22 athletes from Mariupol, including 8 children. Their faces were recreated by artist Iryna Prots, and each portrait here is not merely an image, but a story cut short too soon: dreams that never came true and victories that will never happen.

On the same day, an exhibition dedicated to the memory of fallen athletes will also open. The “Helmet of Memory” will become its central piece and will remain in the museum throughout the entire exhibition period. The archive of the Museum of Civilian Voices founded by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation contains more than 145,000 stories of civilians affected by russia’s war against Ukraine, including around 12,500 stories of Mariupol residents.
