Digital Future and Safety: Children at the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation’s Blogger Camp Explore Artificial Intelligence with Metinvest Digital
During the spring session of the Blogger Camp project, organized by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, an interactive event was held by Metinvest Digital. The online lecture for campers was delivered by Maksym Balaniuk, Director of Innovation and Development at Metinvest Digital, Kateryna Sumarieva, Talent Development Manager at Metinvest Digital, and Oksana Ishchuk, Project Manager at the Foundation. This special lesson was dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI).
“We wanted to show children that artificial intelligence is not only for office workers, the so-called ‘white-collar professionals.’ It is actively used across all sectors — from heavy and light industry to other manufacturing fields — and this is exactly what our country urgently needs today. We wanted young people to see these opportunities here, so that they stay, develop their talents, and unlock their potential right here in Ukraine,” shared Maksym Balaniuk.
Camp participants — children affected by the war and returned from occupation — learned how neural networks work and how AI is already transforming the modern world. The teenagers learned to distinguish AI-generated videos from real ones, discovered the rules of digital safety, and discussed how artificial intelligence will support the professions of the future.
“The ‘Peaceful Rest for Children of Ukraine’ project continues to evolve. And it was during the spring session that we integrated an online interactive workshop for the first time. This was the first introduction of a STEM component into the project. We conducted the workshop together with Metinvest Digital in an interactive format that the children truly enjoyed,” said Oksana Ishchuk, Project Manager at the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
Participants of Blogger Camp also shared their impressions of the session and their experience in the project. The teenagers said that the lesson on artificial intelligence was not only educational but also helped them take a fresh look at the possibilities of modern technologies and their own future.
“It was very interesting. I learned a lot of new things, although I was already familiar with some of the information. I want to become a simultaneous interpreter, and AI can help me improve my English. Maybe it can even suggest something useful,” says 16-year-old camper Alisa.
“What interested me most was that AI can be used to influence people in certain ways. Sometimes people may not even realize it, but there are specialists who use AI to shape certain tendencies or set directions — for example, in fashion or trends. Right now, I plan to develop a career in IT, so this training was very interesting and useful for me,” says 15-year-old Polina, a participant in Blogger Camp.
Blogger Camp always offers engaging and diverse activities that help Ukrainian youth believe in their own strength, relax and improve their health outdoors, make new friends, and look confidently toward their own future and the future of their country despite the challenges of today.
Thanks to the program “Rinat Akhmetov - to Children. Peaceful Recreation for the Children of Ukraine,” nearly 5,000 children from different parts of the country have already had the opportunity to regain strength, find hope, and gain new impressions. Over 20 years of its work, the Foundation has provided support to more than 6 million children of Ukraine.
