"This is our history, that cannot be rewritten": singer Pavlo Zibrov shares his impression of the VOICES exhibition

18.03.2024

The Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv is hosting the exhibition VOICES, which opened the multimedia space of the Museum of Civilian Voices of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation with an art installation by GOGOLFEST. The exhibition was recently visited by the famous singer Pavlo Zibrov and his family.

"I had goosebumps all the time. Everything is turning upside down inside, you plunge headlong into the terrible events of today. On the floor - the effect of ash underfoot, smoke, intense sounds, tracks, people's voices. On the screens, there is a video that immerses you in the installation, which, unfortunately, is our life," Pavlo says about what he saw.

The singer noted that the exhibition included three installations:

  • Destroyed City, which consists of empty houses and is a metaphor for dozens of Ukrainian cities affected by the Russian invasion.
  • Pillar of Destroyed Life, which is created from the belongings of specific people - from apartment keys to photographs and wreckage of the car that protected its owners from death.
  •  Wall of Peaceful Figures, where each sculpture hides an emotion and a story of a person who was forced to leave because of the war. The suitcases in this installation contain tablets with real stories of people who lost their loved ones and homes because of the war. The Museum of Civilian Voices has already collected more than 100,000 such stories.

"We could not hold back our tears. There were many emotions - despair, regret, injustice, rage... This exhibition should be shown in all European capitals, to all foreigners, officials, those who are already 'tired' and living in a different reality. It is extremely important! This is our history, which cannot be rewritten!" Pavlo emphasises.

And he adds that he is sincerely grateful that his story will now be kept in the Museum of Civilian Voices of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation https://civilvoicesmuseum.org/

The VOICES exhibition is a multimedia space of the Museum of Civilian Voices of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, which, in particular, presents stories from the Museum's collection. Thanks to the effect of presence, the exhibition reveals the depth and power of Ukrainians' stories about their experiences during the war.

The exhibition will be open until April 26, 2024 at the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv at 7 Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Street. Admission is free. Curatorial tours are held every Saturday at 3pm and are also free of charge.
