Following a major refurbishment, the renovated outpatient consultative and diagnostic centre at Municipal Hospital No. 3 has reopened in Kryvyi Rih, serving around 101,000 people. The centre’s medical departments and infrastructure have been modernised, and a modern shelter with a capacity of 350 people has been established. The project was jointly implemented by the Metinvest Group, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and the Kryvyi Rih city administration. Metinvest allocated approximately UAH 125 million for the refurbishment.
Supporting healthcare remains one of the key priorities for frontline Kryvyi Rih. Municipal Hospital No. 3 is one of the region’s major hospital facilities, serving not only city residents but also people who have relocated to Kryvyi Rih because of the war.
“Ukraine’s recovery begins with the health of its people. It is particularly important to Mr Rinat Akhmetov that Ukrainians receive high-quality medical care in modern and dignified surroundings. This project brought together the resources of business, the city, the state healthcare system and the Foundation’s humanitarian expertise. Our task is not simply to renovate a building, but to create a safe and welcoming healthcare environment that the people of Kryvyi Rih will use every day,” said Nataliia Yemchenko, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
Metinvest, together with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, funded the main refurbishment works at the medical facility, including the renovation of the first floor, the radiology department and the sterilisation department. A modern shelter with a capacity of 350 people has also been established at the hospital.
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation additionally equipped the hospital with computer and household appliances to support medical staff and improve patient comfort, including laptops, refrigerators, water coolers, coffee machines and microwaves.
“One of our largest healthcare support projects was the major refurbishment of the outpatient clinic, hospital departments and shelter at Kryvyi Rih Municipal Hospital No. 3, which we carried out together with our partners. We took a comprehensive approach to this work, covering everything from the design of medical premises to the exterior of the building itself and the creation of an accessible environment for all patients, including people with disabilities. Approximately UAH 125 million was allocated to carry out this extensive work,” said Oleksandr Myronenko, Chief Operating Officer of the Metinvest Group.
From now on, patient appointments and the work of administrative and laboratory services will take place in comfortable surroundings. The second floor houses the urology and surgery rooms, dermatology, neurology and ophthalmology consulting rooms, as well as the refurbished day-care unit.
The third floor accommodates the clinical diagnostic laboratory, administrative offices and other facilities. A dedicated staff relaxation room and a modern conference hall have been provided for medical personnel.
The refurbished premises have been equipped, at the hospital’s expense, with new, modern medical furniture, examination couches, medical procedure trolleys and comfortable chairs.
“We carry out comprehensive hospital refurbishments, starting with renovating walls and extending to creating barrier-free spaces, modern shelters, and state-of-the-art operating theatres and diagnostic departments.
Today, Kryvyi Rih serves as a hospital hub for the south of Ukraine, and we are actively working to develop the healthcare sector and create comfortable conditions for both patients and our doctors.
I would like to thank our partners, Metinvest and the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Together, we have implemented a major healthcare project at Municipal Hospital No. 3, carrying out a complete refurbishment of the outpatient clinic. All this ensures a new level of medical care.
High-quality healthcare, infrastructure modernisation and the provision of modern medical care to residents and our military personnel remain matters of utmost importance to us!” said Oleksandr Vilkul, Head of the Kryvyi Rih Defence Council.
The consultative and diagnostic centre can receive up to 290 patients a day across 10 specialised areas: traumatology, endocrinology, ophthalmology, urology, surgery (including a diabetic foot clinic), cardiology, otolaryngology, dermatology, neurology and gastroenterology. The centre also has a 22-bed day-care unit, with 17 beds for neurology patients and five for general care. Medical care is provided by 15 doctors and 22 nurses.
“Our total catchment area covers around 101,000 patients. Since the reconstruction, it has become much brighter and more spacious, making it a more pleasant place to work. Even when someone is ill, they can see that the conditions here are good and that everything will be all right. If a patient needs further treatment, we refer them to the inpatient department; otherwise, our excellent day-care unit is available. We can boast modern ophthalmic and endoscopic equipment, state-of-the-art ultrasound examinations and a Holter monitor, which used to be a problem for the city but can now be accessed directly at our hospital. As a result, both comfort and the quality of care have improved considerably,” emphasised Andrii Makov, Director of Municipal Hospital No. 3.
Following the hospital’s refurbishment, plans are also in place to transform the area around it by creating a modern public garden for children and families. The project by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, in partnership with Metinvest and the city, includes installing art sculptures inspired by the work of Mariia Prymachenko and creating a children’s play area with swings.
