“I will be able to plant a garden soon”: Iryna from Donetsk region, seriously injured, undergoes rehabilitation course by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

Last October, Iryna came under fire in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. She sustained a serious injury to her left leg. Recently, Iryna underwent a course of physical rehabilitation and psychological recovery provided by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
“I know that the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has been doing charity work for a long time and everyone who has applied to it has received help. Now they have helped me too. I am very grateful for that,” says Iryna.
She cannot remember the moment of her injury without crying. She was conscious the whole time. The woman was given first aid by local paramedics, had her leg operated on by doctors at the regional hospital in Dnipro, and was treated in Kropyvnytskyi. Iryna had to spend at least three months in hospitals. Now rehabilitation is important.
“First and foremost, it involves exercises to improve the mobility of the lower limb. These include therapeutic massages, water exercises, therapeutic baths with concentrates, ultrasound and mud therapy. The patient is already noticing improvements: the pain in her leg has decreased,” emphasises Snizhana Chobotarova, a general practitioner.
Iryna admits that she uses every minute to exercise. She wants to start walking freely again and return home as soon as possible. Her dog Zhuchok is waiting for her there, and he is very sad without his owner. Iryna admits that the first thing she will do in her native Kostiantynivka is to hug her pet and start tending to the garden.
“I have seven acres of garden waiting for me! Let’s see how it goes this year, if I am healthy enough. Next year, God willing, I will be able to do it,” says Iryna.
