Shakhtar Purchases Insulin for Donbass Children

14.08.2014

The Humanitarian Centre of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and the Shakhtar FC continue to render their assistance within the Aid+Help project. The combat activities make adjustments into the life of people in the Donbass. One of the major problems is insufficient supply of medicines.

Andrey Stolpnik, a teenager from Artemovsk, is suffering from insular diabetes. He needs insulin injections to stay alive. Andrey’s mother, Oksana, turned to the Humanitarian Centre for help. Upon which, the family was provided with five months’ supply of insulin.

Shortly after this request, the Stolpnik family received the required portion of insulin. The family was very relieved after getting the help they needed.

My son has type 1 diabetes. We used to be able to receive insulin through the prescriptions of our local endocrinologist at the central city polyclinic. Unfortunately, this year we have been able to get the needed medicine only twice, in May and June. The insulin that Andrey needs is very effective, but very expensive at the same time. Basically, he has less complications using it, said Oksana Skrypnyk, Andrey’s mother. I saw the hot line number of the Humanitarian Centre of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation on TV and decided to ask for their help. We appreciate all the help that the foundation has given us and the people like us in this difficult situation. The representatives of the Humanitarian Centre listened carefully to our problem, and in a few days the medication and the test stripes were delivered by a courier. It is really extremely important under the given circumstances.
