"Rehabilitation helps": a wounded Zaporizhzhya resident undergoes a rehabilitation course at a health resort provided by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

16.01.2024

On July 12th 2023, Vitaliy was returning home from work and stopped at a park to have a coffee. At that moment, the enemy attacked Zaporizhzhia with rockets. The 49-year-old man sustained a complex mine blast injury. After surgery and treatment, he turned to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and recently underwent a rehabilitation course at a health resort in Zakarpattia.

"My friends saw an advert for help. I called the Foundation and later got into the health resort. I am undergoing rehabilitation procedures, going to the swimming pool and salt room. There are already improvements. I think rehabilitation will help me in the future," the man said.

The day after the injury, doctors removed the fragment. Vitaliy spent more than a week in hospital. However, his arm did not recover quickly, so he needed qualified rehabilitation assistance. This is especially important because Vitaliy is a truck driver and has already returned to work.

"After being discharged, my arm did not work or bend. And then it gradually began to recover. Now it works a little, but I can't lift anything heavy," the man said.

Under the program "Treatment and Rehabilitation of Wounded Adults," the Foundation provides assistance to Ukrainian residents who suffered from hostile shelling of residential areas: treatment, rehabilitation, psychological assistance, etc.
