A project that changes lives: how Rinat Akhmetov Foundation helped 14-year-old Tymofiy fulfil his dream
Rinat Akhmetov Foundation met Tymofiy in sad circumstances: the boy lost his fingers as a result of a rocket attack on his village in Donetsk region. During the rehabilitation course organised as part of Rinat Akhmetov to Children programme, the team learned about the boy's sports dream and helped him to fulfil it in 2024.
Thus, one of Tymofiy's hobbies is football - he has been a Shakhtar fan for many years. A match between Shakhtar and Marseille was scheduled to take place in Hamburg. The Foundation organised an opportunity for the teenager and his mother Kateryna to watch the game live.
The experience changed Tymofiy's life - his mother admitted that she hadn't seen her son so happy, excited and inspired for a long time. After returning home, the boy started training at Shakhtar Stalevi FC despite his injury.
Now he not only develops his skills, but also motivates others by showing them that they should never give up.
However, he still has one dream:
‘If I could change something in my life, I would make sure there was no war. I really want to return home, to my native Donetsk region,’ Tymofiy admits.

Rinat Akhmetov to Children programme implements projects that comprehensively support boys and girls whose childhood was taken away due to Russian aggression.
The programme provides children with medical treatment, hearing aids, psychological and physical rehabilitation, and enables them to develop and fulfil their dreams. Since its inception, the Foundation has helped more than 5 million children.
The New Year's campaign is a part of the large-scale Rinat Akhmetov to Children programme, a tradition that has been going on for 24 years. The Foundation's team organises holidays for children from boarding schools, family-type orphanages and displaced children in different cities of the country.
