FC Shakhtar President Rinat Akhmetov makes a year-end performance review and wishes the fans a Happy New Year
Dear Fans, Friends,
We all are looking forward to the new year, while summing up the year that passes. For our Club 2021 has been a year of important changes, major challenges, and big aspirations.
We have invited a new head coach Roberto De Zerbi who joined Shakhtar with his staff. He is a young and very ambitious professional, and we believe in his talent, as well as share his bold and progressive ideas. He wants Shakhtar to play a beautiful, intelligent, attacking football, which is precisely what you, our fans, love and appreciate. I am confident that Roberto is going to make Shakhtar even stronger and more successful, with many exciting victories and the highest achievements ahead.
The outgoing year is also a year of succession for us. The players who were instrumental to the team for many years have left the Club. Taison, Marlos, Dentinho – each of them left a mark on Shakhtar's history. We thank them for valuable victories and trophies, beautiful football, and most importantly – for powerful emotions!
Today we can positively say that Shakhtar is ready for changes, as former leaders give way to the exceptionally talented and promising players. Mudryk, Trubin, Bondar, Sudakov, Sikan, Bondarenko, and many others are not just the future, they are the present of our Club and the Ukrainian football in general. Roberto De Zerbi is willing to trust young players, and they in turn are showing explosive growth and tremendous progress. Each of them has already shown himself on the field and won applause. However, it is just the beginning of a great journey. Success only comes to those who put in a lot of hard work and dedication every day, to ultimately win applause of the entire Europe.
Shakhtar enters 2022 with great hopes and top goals. We pursue the same ambition as ever – to win and keep winning. We will show intelligent football and make beautiful attacking plays for our fans to enjoy. We want to hold the trophies, win the Ukrainian Cup and gold medals in the Ukrainian League, we want Shakhtar Women to win their first title. I am certain that all of us can expect a very exciting and interesting football year, and we are going to do our best to make it successful for us!
I would like to wish Shakhtar fans and its staff a happy upcoming New Year! May 2022 be full of joy and pleasant experiences, lots of great victories and accomplishments. May happiness and warmth fill your homes, and harmony and love fill your hearts. I wish you and your families good health, peace, and welfare!
