Over 2 million food packages are issued by Rinat Akhmetov’s Humanitarian Center to peaceful residents of Donbas and internally displaced persons
Rinat Akhmetov's Humanitarian Center issued 2 017 334 food packages for residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and IDPs from Donbas. From August 22, 2014 till February 28, 2015, fifteen humanitarian aid drives delivered over 25 mln kg of humanitarian aid and dispatched it to 57 towns and districts of Donbas.
For reference, this quantity of food is enough to provide the residents of big cities, such as Odesa or Dnipropetrovsk, with food for the whole month.
2,500 people were involved in the organization and distribution of humanitarian aid – these are employees of Rinat Akhmetov’s Humanitarian Center, Shakhtar Football Club, the assets of SCM Group and volunteers.
Grigory Koldunov, Director of Rinat Akhmetov's Humanitarian Center: “These food packages are aimed for 700,000 families, who have no access to food. Each of these packages will feed a family for a month. It’s quite a good number, but it’s still not sufficient, taking into account that many people keep living in the ATO area in a real humanitarian catastrophe. That is why, by the decision of Rinat Akhmetov, we won’t stop and we will preserve the volumes of humanitarian aid for Donbas civilians”.
In March the Humanitarian Center is planning the 16th Humanitarian Aid Drive to deliver 250,000 food packages and 30,000 children kits to Donbas. The aid is aimed for peaceful residents of the ATO area and the towns along the contact line, and IDPs, residing in the towns under Ukrainian government control.
