One hundred thousand of children received gifts from Rinat Akhmetov

25.12.2017

On the New Year holidays’ eve, Rinat Akhmetov gives presents to children. Over the past three years, more than half a million kids have received holiday sets, and 100,000 children have received sweet and warm gifts from Rinat Akhmetov this year alone, including 6,000 orphans and pupils at boarding school and family-type children's homes. As for “Rinat Akhmetov to children!” campaign, it has been held the 17th year in a row.

A few days ago, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation representatives visited Sviatohirsk, where they met with the children of the sanatorium and recreation center for social rehabilitation “Emerald City”. Children received blankets as the warm presents from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and “Say No to Orphanhood!” programme.

“On behalf of Rinat Akhmetov, we came to congratulate you on the upcoming holidays. I would like to wish that there are as many miracles in your lives as possible; that you feel warm, support, care; that you had many friends and never stay alone. We want to give you these blankets as a symbol of home warmth and cosiness!” Natalia Baryshpolska, the head of “Say No to Orphanhood!” programme, said to the children of the “Emerald City”.

The children were delighted. Deprived of parental care, they are sincerely drawn to all those who show them attention and care.

“Rinat Akhmetov helps us every year, and we would like to thank him,” says Alla, a 16-year-old pupil of the Emerald City. “We are all very pleased.”

“Emerald City” is a sanatorium and recreation center for social rehabilitation of orphans and children deprived of parental care, located in Sviatohirsk. Since 2014, orphans from the military zone of Donbas are undergoing social rehabilitation in the “Emerald City” too. Today there are more than 320 children in the center, a quarter of them are pre-school kids. Over one hundred children live in the “Emerald City” constantly.

“Most of the children came here from the military zone. They really need support, care and attention. The gifts, which we brought today, are a small symbol of family warmth and comfort, which is not enough in ordinary life,” Natalia Baryshpolska shared. “We really want that the care and attention that these children receive on holidays, will also be present in their daily lives. For this purpose, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's “Say No to Orphanhood!” portal works. We try to help all children to find their new families!”
