“Healthy Heart”: how to get assistance?

21.03.2018

Mykyta Fedosov from Kramatorsk recently turned four years old. Now he can play with his peers to his heart’s content. The boy's mom is no longer afraid that physical exertion can lead to complications that threaten her son’s life.

Mykyta is the fourth child in the family. At birth, the baby was barely saved, he had not breathe for three minutes. The lungs started working, but the heart valve had not closed.

Doctors diagnosed congenital heart disease. Cardiologists assured that the duct should close with time. But at the age of three, it became clear that there was no time left. The boy could become an invalid without urgent surgery.

It was impossible for a single mother to gather the necessary amount of money. In addition, the woman broke her leg, got to the hospital and could not even take Mykyta to the capital Heart Institute. The boy’s godfather volunteered to help. He stayed in the clinic with the baby during the operation, which was possible thanks to the assistance of the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center.

“We relied on God and help of the Rinat Akhmetov Center. Thank you so much! This is the second life for Mykyta! Everything necessary was done, absolutely everything. We would not have found such money. And it was vitally important for the baby,” admits Maksym Pakhomov, Mykyta’s godfather.

Mykyta became one of 38 children who received help within the Rinat Akhmetov Center Project “Healthy Heart”, which has been working for more than a year. Thanks to this project, children with heart defects undergo operations on expensive occlude insertion. Moreover, such operations are performed by a low-traumatic endovascular method, without cutting the chest, after which children quickly recover and return to normal life. Now little Mykyta is perfectly well.
