The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation congratulated the unbreakable Yana Stepanenko on her birthday and supported her dream
Yana Stepanenko - the girl whose story of resilience inspired the whole world - celebrated her birthday. On this occasion, Supervisory Board Chair of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation Nataliia Yemchenko and the Foundation’s CEO Kseniia Sukhova personally congratulated Yana and supported her on the path toward new dreams.
Yana is only 15 years old, but for many she has already become an example of incredible inner strength and resilience. On April 8, 2022, the girl came under fire. That day, a russian missile struck the crowded evacuation railway station in Kramatorsk. Yana lost both of her legs. Despite what she endured, she kept her faith in herself, completed rehabilitation courses, and today is confidently building her own future.
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has helped Yana and her family more than once. The Foundation’s founder and president of FC Shakhtar, Rinat Akhmetov, first gifted an apartment in Lviv to the Stepanenko family and later gave Yana her own apartment in Kyiv.
Today, Yana’s apartment is already filled with her warmth, comfort, and new dreams.
Yana dreams of mastering the modern profession of barbering and independently building her future. To support this aspiration, the Foundation presented her with a certificate for professional training at one of Kyiv’s most modern hairdressing academies.
“It is very important for us that every hero we help not simply receives one-time assistance, but that together with them we go through the journey from the very beginning to self-realization. We very much want to walk this path alongside Yana so that she reaches her vocation while we remain by her side,” noted Nataliia Yemchenko, Supervisory Board Chair of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
“Today we see Yana’s sincere desire to study, master barbering skills, and independently build her own future. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation is pleased to contribute to her development. Stories like these inspire,” emphasized Kseniia Sukhova, CEO of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
