“Thank You for an Incredible Holiday”: Internally Displaced Children Received New Year Greetings and Gifts From the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation in Zaporizhzhia
Just a few days ago, the Metinvest Green Centre in Zaporizhzhia was visited by boys and girls who live far from their homes because of the war. Even in the most difficult times, children dream about some New Year’s miracles, and the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation gives them the opportunity to experience such a miracle. The young guests of the event met with Saint Nicholas and the Angel. They sang, danced, read poems, and took part in some exciting games and contests.
“I really like it here. There is a very beautiful Christmas tree here and Saint Nicholas,” shared her impressions eight-year-old Dominika from Melitopol, who came to the holiday celebration with her three sisters.
Every child who celebrated the holiday with the Foundation dreams of something that is important to them. Those who are younger talk about some desired gifts, while older children are waiting for the dreamed Victory. Parents share stories about how the war changed the lives of their families and thank the Foundation for a wonderful event.
“Once again, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation made us happier by organizing an incredible holiday celebration event for our children: music, entertainment team, fun games, children’s laughter, and some sweets. Just great emotions! We are very grateful to Rinat Akhmetov and his team for such an activity that is very important for Ukraine at this time, especially for the front-line zone, where we have air alerts, sirens, explosions every day... Thank you so much!” says Maryana, a mother from Berdiansk.
The New Year Campaign Rinat Akhmetov for Children, in which more than a million boys and girls have participated for now, is a tradition of kindness and help, spanning more than two decades. In the framework of the Campaign, the Foundation holds some festive and educational events for children who need support the most.
“We greet internally displaced children, children from orphanages, family-type children’s homes, children who underwent rehabilitation after injury, as well as children who lost their parents in the war. Throughout the year, the Foundation also implements educational, health-recovery, and psychological projects for children, which are aimed at rehabilitation, as well as raising morale. After all, in such a difficult time for the country, it is extremely necessary to support our children and instil them with faith in their own strength,” emphasizes Oksana Ishchuk, project manager of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
