Rinat Akhmetov Gifts a Car to Oleksandra Paskal

Rinat Akhmetov has gifted a car to young gymnast Oleksandra Paskal, who lost her leg as a result of a russian missile strike but returned to sport after a lengthy rehabilitation. For the Paskal family, the new car is an important source of support in their everyday lives. It will help Sasha travel more comfortably to training sessions, rehabilitation, school and competitions, where she represents Ukraine.
“This is simply incredible! It’s such a cool car. We had a car before, but it was badly damaged as a result of a missile strike. And now Mum will be able to drive me everywhere. Thank you so much for this,” Oleksandra shared.
“Sasha needs ongoing rehabilitation and travels to training sessions, as well as competitions, where she represents our country. Now, with such a gift from Rinat Akhmetov, it will be much more convenient for her, considering that she constantly uses a prosthetic leg. Rinat Akhmetov was impressed by her resilience, her thirst for life and her incredible desire to keep training against all odds, so he decided to provide her with comprehensive support. Overall, helping children affected by the war is a very important area of the Foundation’s work,” said Kseniia Sukhova, CEO of the charitable organisation.
Before receiving the car, another special moment awaited Sasha — a training session together with Olympic medallist and world champion in rhythmic gymnastics Hanna Rizatdinova. The athletes worked together on choreography, elements of the routines and technique. Hanna gave Sasha professional advice and emphasised that her strength of character inspires not only children but adults as well.
“I’m proud that we know each other. If Sasha can find the strength within herself, then we, adults, simply have an obligation to find it too. At my academy, I very often use Sasha as an example for children when they have no strength or motivation to train after shelling. Sasha is truly a great example, an inspiration and a source of motivation. We must do everything possible to ensure that Sasha represents our country at the Paralympics. I believe Sasha has a very good chance, and the world must learn her story,” says Hanna Rizatdinova.
In 2022, the war changed Oleksandra Paskal’s life forever. The girl was seriously injured during a russian missile strike on Zatoka and lost her leg. After a lengthy coma and rehabilitation, she was able to return to her beloved sport of rhythmic gymnastics.
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has been providing consistent support to Oleksandra on her path towards new victories. Earlier, the founder of the Foundation purchased an apartment in Kyiv for the girl and her family. The Foundation also implemented the Dance of Freedom project together with Shakhtar Football Club.
Oleksandra’s story is an example of strength of spirit and the ability to keep moving forward despite the most difficult trials. And consistent support helps her keep moving forward, achieve new goals and build her future in Ukraine.
