200 ambulances for Ukraine: help and rescue
Rinat Akhmetov Foundation implemented the project "200 ambulances for Ukraine" in 2019. Two hundred new cars with modern medical equipment were handed over to state health institutions. The project was implemented by the personal decision of Rinat Akhmetov, and its main task is to raise the provision of emergency medical care throughout the country to a qualitatively new level.
- The Fund handed over 114 "reanimations on wheels" and 64 unique off-road vehicles to state institutions in all regions of the country, as well as 22 neonatal ambulances with artificial lung ventilation devices manufactured in Italy, - Iryna Blazhan, Director of projects and programs of the Foundation. said.
One of these cars – Peugeot Boxer type B, was received by the ambulance station in Brovary and has proven itself great among doctors.
– Sometimes, we ourselves were so seasick during the travel that we could not stand it. And here you can safely install a dropper, perform airway aspiration and collect sputum, - doctor Vira Diatlova says about working conditions on old ambulances. She recalls that over the years of medical practice, these were mainly UAZs and gazelles.
Drivers confirm the words of the doctors.
– One trip around the city takes 10 minutes. To the outskirts – 20. Now we arrive much faster, because the new car provides such a possibility, – Vladyslav Pyzhevsky, ambulance driver explains.
In less than a year, the Foundation's car has covered more than 350,000 kilometers, taking on the most difficult challenges. The real test was the coronavirus epidemic for both doctors and their cars.
- I was just afraid to go home, where my wife was waiting for me in the eighth month of pregnancy. I just didn’t want to bring an infection home, - Vladyslav Pyzhevsky says.
Physical stress was added to the psychological stress, as the number of calls doubled since the beginning of the epidemic. The new ambulance greatly facilitated the work of doctors, providing comfortable conditions for them and patients.
- Rinat Akhmetov Foundation performs a very noble mission, helping people in trouble. This is a cool car, a reliable one. We are thankful to Rinat Akhmetov, - Heorhii Zubkovskyi, chief physician of the Brovary emergency medical service station said.
