Medical professionals in Ivano-Frankivsk received another modern ventilator from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK

28.10.2020

On 27 October, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation together with DTEK handed over expert equipment – a French ventilator – for the doctors of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Children'S Clinical Hospital.

Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine has been implemented within the framework of the program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives. The project was launched in February upon an initiative of Rinat Akhmetov. He allocated UAH 300 million to fight the coronavirus. These funds were aimed at purchasing equipment and supplies that doctors need most. State hospitals in 17 regions of Ukraine received rapid tests, personal protective equipment, oxygen concentrators, thermometers, etc. Furthermore, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has purchased 204 ventilators. 160 devices are already saving the lives of patients with severe COVID-19 in 12 regions of the country. Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast has already received 21 high-end ventilators from the Foundation," Natalya Yemchenko, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, said.

Rostyslav Vitrykhovskyi, a DTEK representative, noted that purchasing such a large number of ventilators was a daunting challenge.

"The Foundation did almost impossible. We searched ventilators all over the world. Doctors admit that today it is almost impossible to buy such high-quality devices, since they are necessary in every country of the world. The ventilators purchased by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK for Ukrainian doctors are high-end intensive care equipment. Once installed, the most important thing is that the purchased devices can be used immediately almost anywhere in Ukraine, which is very important within the epidemic period when you need to save lives right  here right now," Rostyslav Vitrykhovskyi said.

Chairman of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, Vitalii Fedoriv, expressed his gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK for helping the region

"I would like to express my gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for its constant support, which has been provided since April. The Foundation was one of the first organisations to help our region. Step by step, the medicine of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast  is changing and becoming more prepared for challenges. I congratulate the staff of the Children's Regional Hospital on receiving a wonderful device which will further improve medical care," Vitalii Fedoriv said.

Director of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Children'S Clinical Hospital, Taras Melnyk, noted that this equipment transfer is a great event for the medical institution:

"I would like to express my gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for their assistance. Delivered on time, this device has been substantial. It will help treat seriously ill children. I really appreciate what the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation does and that it always responds to people's requests. This high-end equipment will save young patients for many years. Children are the most precious assets to every person. This equipment will help save more than one child and make more than one family in Outer Subcarpathia happy.

Please note that last year Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Children'S Clinical Hospital received a modern neonatal ICU from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation within the framework of the project 200 Ambulances For Ukraine.

DTEK representative Rostyslav Vitrykhovskyi presented certificates to doctors of Ivano-Frankivsk Children's Regional Hospital who were trained by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Thus, jointly with the Ministry of Health and the Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine, two online conferences were held by the Foundation for doctors who work with ventilators. Those were many-hours-long webinars where the leading experts of the Ministry of Health told the doctors of public hospitals the world's best practices in the treatment of COVID-19 and some details when operating the latest models of ventilators. About 2,000 doctors from all over Ukraine took part in the training.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, state hospitals in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Ternopil, Rivne, Zakarpattia and Kharkiv Oblasts, as well as in Kyiv, have received modern ventilators from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine is a large-scale project of the Foundation created to help save people's lives. It is implemented under the program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives. Earlier, Rinat Akhmetov launched 200 Ambulances for Ukraine, which was was implemented as part of this program. Back then, all regional state medical institutions received 200 special vehicles with state-of-the-art military equipment that can get over off-road conditions within the record time of six months. Moreover, 22 vehicles equiped with ventilators`for newborns were also delivered. This is the largest contribution made by one philanthropist to the state medicine of Ukraine since our country became independent. These days, many of these ambulances are involved in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
