Let’s Stop Tuberculosis in Ukraine
Implementation years: 2008-2014
Let’s Stop Tuberculosis in Ukraine was a tuberculosis prevention program that grew out of a regional project, Let’s Stop Tuberculosis in the Donetsk Oblast. The goal of this program was to overcome an epidemic of tuberculosis in Ukraine.
To accomplish this task, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation helped hospitals and dispensaries (specialized treatment centers) across the country to improve tuberculosis diagnostics and provide better access to high-quality diagnostics and treatment services for all categories of population.
The Foundation helped with purchasing medications, and trained more than 2,000 specialists in tuberculosis monitoring and diagnostics methods.
As part of this program, the Foundation has developed a nationwide information campaign and information materials for the public at large and risk groups.
An epidemic of tuberculosis in Ukraine was stopped.
