Residents of Novoluhanske could get humanitarian aid

19.09.2016

Today, on September 19, the mobile team of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center could deliver humanitarian aid to Novoluhanske. Residents of this settlement were supposed to receive their food packages a week ago, but the Center's volunteers faced problems when crossing internal checkpoints  and couldn't get to the settlement.

"This happened on September 13. Military men refused to let the Center's volunteers pass with humanitarian aid. We immediately sent and official request to ATO Staff and during the next few days we received a permit for humanitarian aid delivery. But even with this permit reaching Novoluhanske was not easy, they didn't let us pass through the checkpoint right away. That is why the humanitarian aid issuance started at 2pm (14:00 instead of 9) and it will last till late night hours", ‒ Natalia Baryshpolska, the Head of "Humanitarian Aid" direction at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shares.

The Humanitarian Center's mobile team project was launched in May 2015. Mobile food delivery makes it possible to help people in the "grey zone" and remote settlements in non-government-controlled areas, where it is impossible to open a fixed issuing point. As of September 19, mobile volunteers delivered and issued more than 205,000 food packages on both sides on the contact line.
