The Humanitarian Center's mobile team is not allowed in Novoluhanske settlement

13.09.2016

According to the volunteers' schedule, today, on September 13, the mobile team of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center was supposed to deliver humanitarian aid to residents of Novoluhanske settlement in Bakhmut raion. However, they faced problems with crossing checkpoints in the "grey zone".

"When our team was crossing a checkpoint on Artemivsk-Debaltseve route, the military men refused to let the Center's volunteers pass with humanitarian aid, which was aimed for the most vulnerable residents of Novoluhanske settlement. We don't understand what happened. And why 780 elderly citizens, disabled people and children, who have gathered and are waiting for us today, cannot receive their food packages. We know that civilians in the "grey zone" still need help, that's why the Humanitarian Center does not give up the intention to deliver food there", ‒ Yuliia Malakhova, the Coordinator for mobile teams at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shares.

The Humanitarian Center sent an official request to the Antiterrorist Centre (ATC) under the Security Service of Ukraine. In five days, on September 19, the Center is planning to deliver survival kits to Luhanske settlement, which is located in the same raion.

The Humanitarian Center's mobile team project was launched in May 2015. Mobile delivery of food makes it possible to help people in the "grey zone" and remote settlements in non-government-controlled areas, where it is impossible to open a fixed issuing point. Altogether over two years of its operation Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center issued 9,643,000 adult and children survival kits on both sides of the contact line.
