The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's Blogger Camp winter session with children illegally taken to russia and returned to Ukraine has come to an end

07.02.2024

The winter session of the Blogger Camp from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for children affected by the war has come to an end. This session was special: in the camp in Zakarpattia, boys and girls who had been illegally taken to russia and could return home were resting, improving their health, and undergoing psychological rehabilitation.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, in cooperation with the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, was the first to provide comprehensive assistance to these children who need special attention and care.

“Psychological rehabilitation combined with games, workshops, and communication plays a key role in the socialisation and recovery of these children. Psychodiagnostics helped to identify problematic issues and the level of trauma of the children. Now our goal is to work together with government agencies, charities, and public organisations to provide counselling and psychological support to the parents and guardians of these children for their further adaptation in society, educational institutions, and families,” said Iryna Blazhan, the Programme Director of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

Immediately after arriving at the Camp, the children were in a difficult psycho-emotional state. The trauma they had experienced had physical manifestations. The children were supported by a reinforced team of qualified psychologists from the Foundation, as well as an osteopathic doctor who worked with the trauma through the body. The results were noticeable: the children felt much better at the end of the session. This is the first and very important step towards recovery and returning to normal life.

Orphans and half-orphans, children under guardianship, children who lost their parents during the war, and children with psychological trauma and in need of socialisation also took part in the winter session of the Blogger Camp. These are the most vulnerable boys and girls to whom the Foundation always pays special attention and provides assistance. And for all Ukrainian children and teenagers, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation runs year-round educational, health, rehabilitation, psychological, and motivational projects.

As part of the “Rinat Akhmetov for Children. Peaceful Recreation for Children of Ukraine” project, nearly 5,000 children from all over Ukraine have received healthcare, rest, and qualified psychological assistance.
