The Humanitarian Center's volunteers continue delivering food to the homes of helpless elderly people

06.04.2016

Lonely and severely ill elderly and disabled people need special support. They cannot come to pick their food packages from the issuing point on their own, and they have no one to ask. The volunteers of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center deliver survival kits for these people straight to their homes.

In March 2016 our volunteers delivered food products to 1,663 retired and disabled people. Over the entire period of the Center's operation 27,774 packages were delivered individually.

The Humanitarian Center strives to provide all aid recipients with their food packages on time. Therefore, targeted delivery team has been expanded with new volunteers.  Those concerned about troubles of others become volunteers and help by their own efforts to deliver food packages to the most vulnerable civilians of Donetsk, Makiivka, Khanzhonkove, Khartsyzk, Yenakiieve, Snizhne, Shakhtarsk and Torez.

"The volunteers note an extremely distressful situation, lack of electricity, water and additional power supply; retired and disabled people provided with address assistance survive due to our help only" ‒ Anzhela Fokina, the Humanitarian Center's Coordinator on address delivery, shares.

Also, according to volunteers' information, the cases of theft are frequently observed in the town outskirts. The address delivery recipients cannot often move on their own and leave their doors open, so that people could come and visit. But, unfortunately, except for initiative neighbours, who are willing to help the lonely people, there are also ruthless lawbreakers who use this situation to steal from people's homes, taking away up to the last loaf of bread.

"During our visit we try to provide not only a food package, but some moral support as well. For us this is the quality of service and comprehensive help", ‒ Anzhela Fokina explains.
