‘I believe that everything is ahead’: 15-year-old Daniil from Bohodukhiv undergoes rehabilitation course from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation after being wounded
It happened in the summer in Bohodukhiv. The 15-year-old Daniil was in his room when the enemy started shelling. Shell fragments damaged windows and walls in his house. The teenager was wounded and still feels the consequences of his injury. Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provided Daniil with a course of physical and psychological rehabilitation in a health resort in the Transcarpathian region.
‘I am very grateful to the Foundation for helping me with my rehabilitation. Anyone can have an accident like this at any time, so such support is important. I liked everything at the health resort, you feel differently here,’ says Daniil.
He and his mother received first aid from neighbours. The boy was sure that his arm was just cut by glass, but at the hospital it turned out that a fragment from a cluster munition had gone through his arm. He had to undergo surgery and recovery.
‘After being wounded, I lost the strength in my arm, I can't lift anything heavy. I used to work out in the gym. So after rehabilitation in the health resort, I want to celebrate the New Year and return to sports right after the holiday. I believe that everything is still ahead,’ says Daniil.
