Donetsk held the training on TB for NGOs

29.08.2013

August 22-23, 2013, the TB Training Center with the support of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for "Development of Ukraine" has conducted a training "Tuberculosis control. The role of NGOs in the National TB Program for 2012-2016". Such trainings became relevant as, today, TB is not purely a medical issue but social as well; therefore, to find the solutions and new ways in combating TB one should approach from different angles and involve all stakeholders.

The participants were heads of public organizations in Ukraine, working with groups at risk of tuberculosis. Although, the participants were already faced with the TB problem in their daily activity and had some knowledge in this field, the training provided for structuring the existing practice, the learning of simple and effective methods for TB prevention and control, as well as gave an opportunity to share the experience with colleagues. The trainers, being the practitioners talking about TB, have received only positive feedback from training participants. The NGO representatives (participants) and health workers (trainers) jointly found the new ways of interaction, because frequently each party considered the problem lopsided.

The infection control and respirator usage session raised high interest and lots of questions. Many were shocked about the low safety level of individual masks for a healthy person. After the training, each participant was presented with a respirator that will come in handy in the future.
