“The child's condition is improving”: a severely injured 4-year-old girl from Chernihiv undergoes rehabilitation from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
Veronika is four years old. In March 2022, her family fled the war-torn Chernihiv region. The car came under russian fire, and only Veronika and her mother survived. The girl still has shell fragments in her body. The child has recently undergone a course of physical and psychological rehabilitation provided by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. The treatments, peace and clean air are helping the girl to return to an active life.
“All the procedures available in the health resort are what is needed to maintain the health of the body. Veronika's condition is improving. We are very grateful to Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for allowing children who have been injured to undergo rehabilitation,” says Olesia, Veronika's mother.
It is still very painful for her to talk about the shelling. According to Olesia, her daughter is well aware of everything. Working with a psychologist helps the child feel better.
“In the sanatorium, Veronika visits the salt room and the herbal bar - she likes the oxygen foam very much. There are also baths with soothing herbs and exercise therapy. She also likes massage very much. I can see that the child is becoming more active and calmer,” says her mother.
As part of the Rinat Akhmetov to Children! Treatment and Rehabilitation of Injured Children programme, the Foundation provides assistance to children affected by hostile shelling of residential areas: treatment, rehabilitation, psychological help, etc.
