Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center arranges rehabilitation for injured Donbas children. How to file an application?

Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center continues receiving applications for participation in "Rehabilitation of Injured Children" program. Now 10 children from Donetsk and Luhansk regions are undergoing a rehabilitation course. Today, on April 15, one more child will join them.

 "Today Serhiyko from Svitlodarsk is going for rehabilitation. The boy is 8 years old. He and his younger brother are raised by their grandmother. During the shelling in May 2015 Serhiyko got a complex mine-blast trauma, his brain was affected. The child's life was saved in a local hospital, and later he was undergoing treatment in Kharkiv. Now the boy is followed by a neuropathologist and tries to avoid stress, to prevent epileptic seizures. Serhiyko needs rehabilitation aimed at stabilization of his neurological condition", ‒ Iryna Temerko, the Head of 'Targeted Assistance' direction at the Humanitarian Center, shares. 

According to WHO about 200 children were injured during the military actions in Donbas. The Center is ready to help them all with rehabilitation. As of today the applications for participation in "Rehabilitation of Injured Children" program were filed by more than 60 families.

The Center helps with rehabilitation by the following directions:

  • treatment of neurological diseases;
  • recovery of musculoskeletal system;
  • rehabilitative treatment of internal organs;
  • correction of state after operative long-term treatment;
  • arthroplasty;
  • limb and eye prostheses;
  • adaptive rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation course for a child lasts 21 days and takes place in one of rehabilitation centres in Zaporizhia, Berdiansk, Sloviansk or Odesa.
