Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center from Toretsk (Dzerzhynsk)
Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center will help with purchasing clothes and footwear for two elder sisters of three-year-old Veronika from Toretsk (Dzerzhynsk) in Donetsk region. The girl died in hospital on February 12, without regaining consciousness after she was beaten by her mother. This was announced during the press briefing at "Ukrainski Novyny" information agency by the Humanitarian Center's Coordinator Rimma Fil.
"The Humanitarian Center tried to save the baby, having provided all the necessary medications and medical supplies for Veronika's treatment. Unfortunately, the injuries were incompatible with life, the girl died last week, – Rimma Fil announced. – Her older sisters – 4-year-old Nadia and 16-year-old Violetta are in the social rehabilitation centre now.
The Humanitarian Center will continue monitoring the situation with the girls. "Currently their mother is being deprived of her parental rights, the process has been launched. If their grandmother doesn't want to apply for custody or cannot be the children's guardian because of requirements of the Law, the Humanitarian Center will help these children to find a new family after finding out their expectations", – Darya Kasyanova, the Head of "Say No to Orphanhood" project at Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, comments.
Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center will also help to purchase all the necessary things for these children, such as clothes, footwear and stationery as part of "Targeted Assistance" program.
"The girls had a terrible childhood, they had to hide from the mother's violent nature. The Humanitarian Center will do everything possible so that children can quickly forget the horrors they experienced while living with their birth mother", – Rimma Fil said.
