Over 430,000 survival kits are delivered by Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center to Donbas in July

30.07.2015

In July 2015 Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center delivered 434,000 food packages for adults and children, all aimed for the most vulnerable categories of civilians. During the press briefing at "Ukrainsky Novyny" Information Agency Rimma Fil, the Coordinator of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, talked about supplies in July and plans for August.

"During July, after a two-week pause in humanitarian aid delivery last month, we managed to provide the logistic centre at Donbas Arena with food products, which allowed us to resume the operation of all issuing points in non-government-controlled areas of Donbas. As of today we delivered 4,800 tons of food to the most vulnerable categories of civilians in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This volume was used to form 395,000 survival kits for adults and 39,000 children packages. These survival kits are meant for one month allowance for adult or child. There are no fancy delicacies in the packages. They include simple cereals, pasta, sugar, flour, and sunflower oil - everything a human needs to survive. Because people are still not receiving social payments in non-government-controlled territories, and the humanitarian situation keeps getting worse, which was recently mentioned by Geoffrey Pyatt, the United States Ambassador to Ukraine", - Rimma Fil, the Coordinator of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, mentioned.

As of today there are 31 humanitarian aid issuing points in 17 towns in non-government-controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, helping people of the most vulnerable categories, such as elderly and disabled people, orphans, multi-child and foster families and other.

Thanks to the well-organized work of all the issuing points, the Humanitarian Center's volunteers issued 325,460 food packages for adults and 27,500 for children on both sides of the contact line in July.

During the entire period of the Humanitarian Center's operation, from August, 2014, till July, 2015, they issued 3,800,000 adult survival kits and 275,000 children packages.

In August 2015, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center continues supplying food products for Donbas civilians and IDPs on both sides of the contact line. The Humanitarian Center is planning to send two more Humanitarian Aid Drives. These are 17 truck convoys that will deliver more than 5,000 tons of food. Based on delivery volumes of the Humanitarian Center's logistic warehouses in Donetsk and Mariupol, it is planned to form 395,000 survival kits for adults and 39,000 children packages.

"Humanitarian Center is trying hard and doing everything possible to deliver food to non-government-controlled areas. Today one more convoy left Dnipropetrovsk for Donetsk. We have been working in this state of uncertainty and risks for a year. Now our cargoes are inspected more precisely. And if earlier our convoy arrived from Dnipropetrovsk to Donetsk during the day, and inspection took a few hours, now the control is more scrupulous, and we cannot deliver food products within a day.  We want to emphasize it once again: we work in compliance with Ukrainian legislation and with Ukrainian manufacturers only, we pay taxes, obey the laws and our documents are in perfect condition. We are ready to these inspections, because we know that we are supplying food for civilians and they really need our help there. The Humanitarian Center continues to perform the goal set by Rinat Akhmetov: deliver humanitarian aid as long as it is needed there", - Rimma Fil summarized.
