More than 1,000 sets with medications are received by severely ill children from Donbas. Who is provided with help and how?

1,040 packages with special medications were received by children from Donbas, who suffer severe chronic diseases. This aid was provided by Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center as part of its targeted assistance program called "Medications for Children".

All applications came from parents via the Humanitarian Center's hotline. During the entire project operation period children received 479 packages with insulin or test stripes, 332 packs with anticonvulsants and 229 sets of asthma medications.

11-year-old Nastia from Donetsk heard terrifying diagnoses six years ago, she has epilepsy. Mother is raising her daughter alone. There is not enough money for expensive medications. And in September 2014 their family experienced another disaster: during the military actions a shell hit their house in Petrovsky district of Donetsk.

"The Humanitarian Center took over the provision of severely ill child with essential medications. Over the entire operation period of "Medications for Children" project the girl's mom asked for help twice and received anticonvulsants for her daughter for three months ahead. A child's life and health is the biggest value for Rinat Akhmetov. That is why the Center continues providing medications to families with children, who found themselves in difficult life circumstances", – Iryna Temerko, the Head of "Targeted Assistance" program, shares.

"Medications for Children" program was launched in October 2015. The goal is to provide Donbas children having serious chronic diagnoses with special drugs that are suitable for them exclusively.  The applications are accepted via the Humanitarian Center's hotline: 0800 509 001.

Who can be provided with assistance from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center?

All children from 0 to 18 years old living in non-government-controlled areas of Donbas and internally displaced children residing in peaceful areas of Donbas.

Where are the medications issued?

Medications are issued in the pharmacies of Artemivsk, Kramatorsk and Mariupol, Donetsk region. The closest relatives of a child living in non-government-controlled areas can also receive medications here per procuration (grandmothers and grandfathers, brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts).

What diseases are the medications provided for?

  • diabetes mellitus
  • bronchial asthma
  • epilepsy (of any form and its consequences)
  • cerebral palsy (of any form)
  • hydrocephalus (with associated complications)
  • traumatic brain injuries and their consequences
  • central nervous system injuries
  • encephalitides (and their forms)

How to receive the medications?

  1. Call the Humanitarian Center's hotline (0800 509 001) and leave an application.
  2. Answer the call of the Humanitarian Center's employee and find out what documents should be submitted and what pharmacy can the medicine be received at.
  3. Get medications at the pharmacy by presenting the necessary package of documents.

What amount of medications is provided to a child?

Each child is provided with pharmaceuticals for three months ahead.
