Over 1000 people were provided targeted assistance with medications from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center in 2015

08.04.2015

Targeted assistance is a great and important direction at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center. Over three months of 2015 the Humanitarian Center helped 1050 peaceful residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions with purchasing medications. These are 850 adults and 200 children.

This has been announced today during press conference at Ukrainian News press centre by Rimma Fil, Coordinator of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center. "We are providing assistance in purchasing medications. This direction includes cardiological assistance, mostly for elderly people, and program for insulin-dependent children. At the moment 100 insulin-dependent children, residing inside the contact line, are provided insulin for three months ahead. Pharmaceutical care is very important for those people, who stayed on the territory not controlled by Ukrainian authorities. As known, the government is not paying not only pensions and social benefits since August, 2014, but also has shut down all programs of medical care for patients suffering from kidney failure, cancer and heart diseases, which means that all people, who vitally require continuous medical treatment, are on the verge of life and death. And significant help in these towns is provided by Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center", - Rimma Fil commented.

Since the start of Targeted Assistance operation, since August, 2014, the Humanitarian Center helped 4,700 Donbas civilians. "This is oncological direction, diabetes, heart medications, help during difficult birth and assistance to peaceful residents", - Coordinator listed.

As a matter of priority, wounded children are under the patronage of Rinat Akhmetov. At present the Humanitarian Center is helping 54 children, who suffered during shelling, and has provided pharmaceutical help to 22 wounded children.

"Many children are already getting better, for example, Vladislav, a 14-year old boy from Kramatorsk. The boy was injured on February 10 during the shelling. His diagnosis is mine-blast trauma, perforating wound of the right hip, injury of saphenous vein, muscle contusion. The child was severely injured. Today Humanitarian Center is helping the boy with surgeries and rehabilitation. I will also tell a story that happened in Vuhlehirsk on the Baptism holiday. An eight-year old girl Tanya was playing with two boys from the neighbourhood. The boys died during shelling, and the girl got severe skin burns. Tanya is in critical condition now; she needs rehabilitation in specialized sanatorium, the only one in Ukraine. Humanitarian Center will pay for the rehabilitation and support the further girl's treatment, - Rimma Fil says.

The Humanitarian Center doesn't forget about children with very serious diseases. For example, a four-month old boy Yegor is waiting for hospitalization and operation, he has communicating hydrocephalus. "This disease requires an urgent medical intervention", - the Coordinator of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center added.
