State-of-the-art electromyograph donated to Ohmatdyt by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
On November 21, 2024, Ukraine’s premier pediatric hospital, Ohmatdyt, received advanced medical equipment from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. The new electromyography system is essential for diagnosing neurological and muscular conditions in children and for monitoring recovery after injuries.
Andrii Myshchenko, Head of Programs and Projects at the Foundation, stated: “In these challenging times, access to modern healthcare is a right that should be upheld, even in the toughest circumstances. This equipment will help young patients recover faster after injuries and surgeries. Ukrainian children deserve the best opportunities for healing.”
This new device is indispensable for diagnosing and treating issues related to nerves, muscles, and tendons, allowing doctors to provide more accurate diagnoses and prescribe the most effective treatments for children.
This donation is part of the Foundation’s ongoing support for Ohmatdyt following the hospital’s damage from a devastating missile attack. Previously, the hospital received:
• Two modern ambulances;
• Ultrasound equipment to improve diagnostic accuracy;
• A piezoelectric ultrasound device for complex bone surgeries;
• A bone fusion device to prevent the need for repeat surgeries.
For many years, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has supported medical institutions across Ukraine during times of crisis. In 2019, it launched the “200 Ambulances for Ukraine” initiative, the largest private charity project in the field of emergency medicine since Ukraine’s independence. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation also purchased and delivered over 200 ventilators to state hospitals, despite a global shortage of such equipment.
Since 2014, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, SCM businesses, and Shakhtar Donetsk Football Club have provided assistance to more than 18 million people. More about the fund: https://akhmetovfoundation.org/en/news
