“We fled our home under fire”: Rinat Akhmetov Foundation delivers aid to evacuated residents of Sumy region

The border area of Sumy region suffers from regular enemy shelling. Residents are forced to leave their homes because of the danger. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has delivered aid to the people who have recently evacuated to the Lebedynska community of Sumy region.
Over the past week alone, more than 200 people have arrived in this community. Most of them are those who need special attention – the elderly, pensioners, the sick and people with children.
“It is important for people to see that they are met and feel that they are cared for. There are moments when people receive help and cannot hold back their tears. We are grateful to the Foundation for supporting internally displaced people,” says Valentyna Hubska, Head of the Social Protection Department of the Lebedynsk City Territorial Community.
“We left under fire. When we left, our house was still intact. And now I don’t know how it is – there is no electricity, no communication, no people in the village,” says 75-year-old Tetiana Volodymyrivna from Krasnopilskyi district, Sumy region.
In total, the Foundation has provided nearly 13.5 million food parcels to Ukrainians. The aid is provided under the Rinat Akhmetov Saving Lives programme.
SCM businesses, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC Shakhtar have already donated UAH 11.3 billion ($315 million) to help the country, the military and civilians since the start of the full-scale invasion.
