"People are living thanks to humanitarian aid": residents of de-occupied Stavky receive food packages from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
Before the full-scale invasion, the de-occupied village of Stavky, near Lyman, was home to more than 800 people. Now, it is less, but the residents remain here, even though the front line is close by and much of the land is mined. Despite the risks and dangers, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation delivered food packages to the local residents.
"People live thanks to humanitarian aid. They need food but have no money to buy it, and many have lost their jobs," says Nataliia Sukhanova, the head of the village.
According to Mykola Osychenko, the Foundation's Ambassador and Head of Mariupol TV, the food they grew in their gardens helped the residents for some time, but now it can cost their lives: the occupiers have left mines and tripwires everywhere.
"The aid is a chance to survive. I have no money for bread. My house was smashed. Thank you for bringing the food," said Mykola, a local resident.
Since the start of the full-scale war, the Foundation has sent more than 350,000 food packages to residents of the Donetsk region and those who have temporarily evacuated from the region.
Since 2014, the Foundation has provided 13 million food packages to Ukrainians. The assistance is provided under the Rinat Akhmetov Saving Lives programme.
