Humanitarian Center visits children summer camp in Sviatohirsk
On Wednesday, August 10, the team of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center spent one day with children in Soniachnyi camp, Sviatohirsk. For the second year in a row, children from the "grey zone" and non-government-controlled areas have an opportunity to rest and improve their health as part of the Center's program called "Peaceful Summer for Donbas Children".
"We came to Sviatohirsk to communicate with children resting in Soniachnyi camp, to get to know more about their stay. There are 184 Donbas children here now. It is sad to realize that these children already know what war is. We want them to get distracted from their difficult everyday life at least for a while and have some good time. Altogether this year, during two shifts in Sviatohirsk and on the Coast of Azov Sea, 500 children will rest as part of "Peaceful Summer for Donbas Children" project", – Oleksandr Vyshniakov, Director of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shared.
The camp has a well-planned everyday schedule and eventful program. Morning exercises, all kinds of amusement and games, sports competitions. The schedule of events is structured so that children can rest and improve their health during the shift.
The day when the Humanitarian Center's team arrived, children were going through a quest called "The style of movement". After completing all the tasks each of the participants received memorable gifts from the Center. When talking to the Humanitarian Center's representatives, children excitedly told about their life in Donbas, their problems and needs. The kids also shared about their vacation and the camp.
"Assistance to children has always been the major focus of Rinat Akhmetov. Today we saw that the camp has an interesting entertainment program, which allows children to have a good rest and forget about the horrors of war at least for a while. Classes and consultations with psychologists, trained by Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, will also help children a lot", – Rimma Fil, the Humanitarian Center's Coordinator, emphasized.
Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center continues accepting applications for free summer vacation for children from Donetsk region. The second shift in Albatros camp (Strilkove settlement, Kherson region) is planned through August 15-28. The program is aimed at children of 8-14 years old living in non-government-controlled areas, "grey zone" of Donetsk region and internally displaced children. The trip to vacation spots is paid by parents.
The application for participation in the program can be filed until August 14, 18:00, via the hotline of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center 0800 509 001 or email [email protected] (it is mandatory to indicate the subject of the email).
