Gymnast Oleksandra Paskal Represents Ukraine at UNESCO Meeting

17.07.2026

Ten-year-old Oleksandra Paskal, who lost a leg as a result of a russian missile strike on the Odesa region in 2022, has launched the international Dance of Freedom tour.

The first event of the program was a meeting with representatives of the UNESCO Sports Committee in Paris. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for further cooperation, as well as how Sasha’s story of resilience inspires children in Ukraine and around the world to overcome life’s challenges. Particular attention was paid to the war in Ukraine and the consequences of russian attacks on civilians.

The meeting in Paris marked the beginning of the large-scale two-week Dance of Freedom tour. During this time, the girl will perform on five continents to remind the world that the war in Ukraine continues and that Ukrainian children are suffering from its consequences.

An intense schedule awaits the young athlete: New York — July 20, Rio de Janeiro — July 23, Nairobi — July 27, Tokyo — July 31.

The Dance of Freedom project is implemented by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation with the support of FC Shakhtar to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.
