Rinat Akhmetov Foundation participates in the round table meeting on Children's Rights Protection

31.05.2016

Combining the efforts of non-governmental organizations and government authorities should be the basis for protection of the rights of children, including orphans and kids deprived of parental care. This was discussed during the round table meeting dedicated to the Children's Day, organized by Donetsk Regional State Administration in Kramatorsk. The list of participants included children's services; social service centres for families, children and youth; departments for healthcare, education and science of the regional administration; Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and other NGO.

"Today the participants shared their experience and vision of solving children's problems. How to secure the rights and protection of kids and support the children affected by war. Over the years of "Say No to Orphanhood!" project operation, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation implemented many important projects together with the Office of Children's Services. We opened and supported family-type orphanages and social centres to support biological families. Despite the military actions, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center continues supporting orphans and finding families for them. Helping all Donbas children is the Humanitarian Center's priority", ‒ Yevheniia Rzaieva, the Head of "Say No to Orphanhood!" project, commented.

During the round table meeting Rinat Akhmetov Foundation presented its new "Mentorship" project aimed at orphaned children.

"Unfortunately, children older than 12 have very small chances to find a new family. This is the statistics. Our mentorship project is aimed at helping these children to get adapted to an independent life, form their everyday domestic skills, choose a profession and learn to find common ground with others. These things are not taught in orphanages. Our mentors will help orphans in Mariupol and Sviatohirsk. These days the project team is being trained. It is a new and unique experience for us, we understand the responsibility and develop the most optimal methods of work"‒ Yevheniia Rzaieva shared.

During the entire implementation period of "Say No to Orphanhood!" project of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation more than 8,000 children found their new families.
