The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK delivered two modern ventilators to the doctors of Mariupol
Mariupol Perinatal Center received two modern ventilators from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and Metinvest.
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has been providing the doctors who are on the front line of the fight against the coronavirus with the most necessary things since February 2020. Over 200,000 units of personal protective equipment, as well as 320,000 rapid tests were transferred to state hospitals. "The purchase of over 200 high-end ventilators was crucial to assist the country within the framework of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's project Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine. Over 140 high-quality ventilators from the Rinat Akhmetor Foundation were delivered to the main hospitals in 12 oblasts of the country. The first of them were transferred in March 2020," Natalya Yemchenko, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Foundation, said.
According to Olena Kondalova, Acting HR Director of Metinvest's PJSC Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol, when Ukraine faced the threat of a pandemic, the state health system was completely unprepared for the new challenge.
"There was not enough equipment to help patients with severe coronavirus: protective equipment for doctors and rapid tests. Rinat Akhmetov was the first to come to the rescue to the country. Back in February, he financed 300 million UAH to help the country fight COVID-19. This is the largest contribution made by one philanthropist to help Ukrainian medicine. The Foundation has already transferred eight high-end ventilators to Mariupol. Furthermore, the city's medical institutions received over 20,000 rapid tests, personal protective equipment for doctors, a sample analyser complete with a test system and a biosafety box. As well as other equipment necessary for high-accurate analysis," Oelna Kondalova explained.
Director of the Perinatal Center, Konstantyn Komlev, expressed his gratitude for the help the doctors provided, "The entire staff of the center are exceptionally grateful to be able to use these high-end devices.
They will be installed in the Department equipped to help pregnant women with coronavirus, as well as women in labour. It is difficult to overestimate the help of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, because the Perinatal Center really needs these two devices.
Deputy Mayor of Mariupol, Kseniia Sukhova, shared his opinion,
"This is really very timely and important assistance to fight the pandemic. I would like to express my gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for its constant and systematic support. We really appreciate this. The doctors could not provide such qualified assistance without this assistance.
Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine is a large-scale project of the Foundation created to help save people's lives. It is implemented under the program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives.
