"Thank you, you are saving our children": families with children in frontline Yarova received help from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
Yarova, Donetsk region - near the frontline. The village survived the occupation, but in autumn 2022 it was liberated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Since then, many people have returned there. Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provided food packages for the families with children who live there.
"Thank you for not forgetting our region. Many people evacuated to us in 2014 and recently. People feel cared for and it is important. Everyone is living in difficult conditions," said Dmytro Dremlyuzhenko, Yarova village head.
"This is the only way to survive, because there is no work, and how can you work when you have a small child? They are the ones who really need help. You are saving our children," says Victoriia, a local resident.
The consequences of the occupation are still being felt in Yarova: during another shelling, a forest mined by the enemy caught fire.
"We also helped families with children who suffered from a forest fire and families who left Donetsk and Horlivka back in 2014 - they still hope to return home," said Mykola Osychenko, the Foundation's ambassador and head of Mariupol TV.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Foundation has sent more than 380,000 food packages to residents of Donetsk region and those who temporarily evacuated from the region.
Since 2014, the Foundation has donated 13 million food packages to Ukrainians. The aid is provided under Rinat Akhmetov Saving Lives programme.
